The Mountaineering Society \u201cKlepa Rosoman\u201d \u2013 Rosoman, together with EG \u201cGreen Power\u201d, MCS \u201cAzot\u201d from Veles, and the municipalities of Rosoman and Gradsko, are organizing the 9th traditional winter ascent of Mount Klepa (1,150 m a.s.l.) on February 8 (Sunday).<\/p>\n\n
As patrons of the event, the mayors of the municipalities of Gradsko and Rosoman\u2014through whose territories the trail passes\u2014are also taking part in the initiative. Each year, support is additionally provided by the logistics unit of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as by a number of renowned domestic wineries. For all participants, free bean stew, mulled wine, homemade halva, and traditional gurabii cookies will be provided at the lodgings of the renovated Monastery of St. Archangel near the village of Gorno \u010ci\u010devo. Each participant is REQUIRED to bring their own eating utensils \u2013 a plate, spoon, and fork.\n\nKlepa is a mid-altitude mountain located in the central part of North Macedonia, on the right bank of the Vardar River, south of the city of Veles in the Middle Vardar region. It extends in a meridional north\u2013south direction. Due to its strategic position, Mount Klepa was for a long time a center of military bases and front-line positions; therefore, remains of bunkers, shelters, and archaeological sites can be found at its summit.\n\nThe main purpose of the event is primarily memorial in nature, to pay tribute to the prematurely deceased mountaineers Kalina and Aleksandar, who tragically lost their lives on Mount Kajmak\u010dalan; to promote the lesser-known and rarely climbed summit of Klepa; and to demonstrate joint cooperation between mountaineering clubs and associations and the municipalities of Rosoman and Gradsko.\n\nSTART of the hike and starting point: 07:00 from the center of the village of Sirkovo (270 m a.s.l.), Municipality of Rosoman.\nDEPARTURE FROM VELES: Sunday (February 8) at 06:15 from the bus stop in front of Hotel International.\n\nThe trail begins with ridge walking and a gentle ascent up to the artificial Podle\u0161ko Lake (660 m a.s.l.), from where it continues along the ridge to the summit of Mount Klepa.\n\nNOTE: The first part of the trail (from Sirkovo to Podles) is easier and suitable for all participants with good basic fitness. The second part (from the village of Podles to the summit) has a steeper incline and is more demanding, while the third part of the trail (the descent toward the Monastery of St. Archangel) is physically quite demanding, as it descends over partially rocky and slippery terrain.<\/p>\n\n
If the organizers deem it appropriate, the return to the Monastery of St. Archangel Michael will be via the village of Dvori\u0161te.<\/p>\n\n
Along the trail from the village of Sirkovo to the summit of Mount Klepa, there are three water fountains. For those who are unable to continue to the summit, transportation will be provided from the village of Podles to the Monastery of St. Archangel.\n\nFinish point: Monastery of St. Archangel (410 m a.s.l.) (between Gorno and Dolno \u010ci\u010devo)\nEnd of the tour: Monastery of St. Archangel.<\/p>\n\n

IMPORTANT: The trail is not circular. It starts from the village of Sirkovo (Municipality of Rosoman) and ends at the Monastery of St. Archangel Michael (Municipality of Gradsko). This information is especially for those arriving with their own transportation.
MANDATORY: Bring 2 liters of water, layered clothing, a waterproof jacket (raincoat), broken-in winter hiking boots, trekking poles, gaiters, scarf, hat, gloves, warm drinks, a headlamp, two pairs of socks, and sunglasses.
